Südpol 11/12: Suedpol is a multi purpose cultural center in Kriens, Switzerland, close to Lucerne, that houses a theater, a symphony orchestra, a brass band, a music school, a restaurant, a flea market, and rents its rooms for performances of music, dance, theatre, literature, digital arts and so on. All posters are printed in size 42 x 30 cm using the Risograph technique, a kind of small scale silk screen printing.

Like every year, you can buy the südpol posters of the last season (11/12) in calendar form. The all in all twenty-four posters were printed by hand in A3 size on a Risograph MZ.
Bound and wrapped the package costs 50 Swiss francs.

Acapulco: 
As a side effect while we made some experiments with water, oil and pigments, we came across magnificent imagery. This resulted in a video clip with perhaps the most slowest voltage increase ever. It does not happen much. But it is beau-ti-ful. So, five minutes of patience for the song «Acapulco» by Field Studies.

Breda: The Graphic Design Festival in Breda asked me to design a poster to the motto: Greed is out, Empathy is in.

A cash tower at the moment of collapse. As a metaphor for our fragile financial system which is based on greed, power and blind megalomania. Today it seems that it only takes one reckless move of a player and a whole country goes down the drain.

Herman Miller: I had the pleasure to design a poster for the legendary furniture manufacturer Herman Miller. In its assortment there are many style icons such as chairs by Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson. My task was to choose one of their products, to interpret it. The poster was later exhibited in Melbourne, Australia. The exhibition showed the impressive poster history of Herman Miller, with posters from designers such as Armin Hofmann and Steve Frykholm.

The Eames Molded Plastic Arm Chair is a beautiful chair. From the beginning my intention was to visualize the beauty of this perfect form without making a major intervention. Simply out of respect for the Eames couple and their work. I found that the beauty of the curves and bends of this chair must speak for themselves. Rather it was just the task to focus the viewer to the perfection of its form. After some research I noticed the physicality of the Eames Moulded. Viewing from certain direction with tree simple shapes the chair can be transformed into a women’s body.

B-Sides 2012: 
This year’s B-Sides festival is fully dedicated to a B. The big B. Obviously it’s a bee, it’s a comic book character. In terms of the level of awareness I guess one could compare her with Mickey Mouse or Donald or perhaps even more appropriate Goofy. That means B is quite famous. Or was it at least once in the past. Or, ok perhaps not.

In this issue you will find nothing but fake comic covers and comic strips of the big b that in addition have random connections with the bands that are playing at the festival.

GT Walsheim: 
Noël Leu asked me if I could design one of 26 postcards as advertising for his beautiful font GT Walsheim. Every postcard contains a letter of the typeface and is an interpretation of an old lithographic poster. In my case it was the «K» and a poster by Otto Baumberger for an international air show in Zurich in 1932.

Mut zur Wut: Götz Gramlich invited me to design this years poster for the exhibition “Mut zur Wut” which takes place in Heidelberg. We’ll see you then.

Les Yeux Sans Visage: 
I had the pleasure to spend a week with the band “Les Yeux Sans Visage” at sudpol to create the right atmosphere for their sound.
We built something like a hill. We have moved 6 tons of turf. We organized two refrigerators, and made some fog. We ate fondue with James Unsworth. We played chess and watched a football fiasco on a 12 x 8 meter screen – And it all ended in an atmospheric sound storm. Memorable. Thank you all!

Soirée Graphique: Feixen was invited to participate at the Soirée Graphique 2011 which is an Exhibition, an after show and auction at the same time. Nine studios were asked to design a poster for the exhibition and also to present their works. The posters were later interpreted by different photographers and published in a large-format newspaper.

The exhibiting artists were: Hi, Johnson/Kingston, Koi & Coboi, Komet, Luca Schenardi, Mike Perry, Paula Troxler, Zeloot and Feixen.

A big thank you goes to Hi. It was an honor to share the show with you.

Festival Nrmal: Info-Bomb celebrates the post-internet computer saturation and its impact on the world of art. Seven curators bombard the Nrmal gallery with a selection of young multi-disciplinary artists from Mexico and the world. For the festival Nrmal and the exhibition, entitled «Info-bomb» I finished an old draft for a poster. The poster was actually made for an exibition about coincidence in art. It is inpired by the works of Roman Signer. An artist who experiments with explosives.

Vintage: This is a paperback about Dada with a focus on Kurt Schwitters. It has three different narrative structures. First, it includes scientific texts about this period, which passes over the whole book. These texts are repeatedly interrupted by a short story by Kurt Schwitters (small pages) and an interview with the curator Nike Bänzer (pink pages), which runs from top to bottom. In the heart there is a collection of representative images and biographies of the artists.

The buildings of the city are large letters and write 3FACH. Every scene on the poster represents a broadcast or is at least in some way connectet with 3fach.

Sinalco simultaneously celebrated its hundredth anniversary, so I decided to play with the memories of the beholder and removed the brandname form the label, to show how rooted this brand is today.
